We’re looking for a passionate, highly motivated, responsible, self-managing IT Geek (a nerd with communication skills!). Ideally, you’ve had some experience in a managed services role. You love what you do and you’re really good at it, but you’re wanting something more. The culture you’re in mightn’t be as good as it could be, or you might have limited development opportunities in your current role, or you just feel like a new challenge. 

Senior Systems Engineer

Christchurch or Auckland

We're looking for an awesome senior systems engineer to join our team.

You'd be working on our dedicated Cloud platform - which we've custom-built from the ground up - and playing an integral role in keeping it operating at best practise standards to provide an exceptional (reliable, cost effective and secure) experience to our customers.

You’d do this by:

  • providing exceptional managed services support and engineering services

  • supporting our internal systems and contributing to their ongoing development

  • assisting on Cloud and Security services projects

  • responding to and resolving Cloud infrastructure alerts

  • identifying opportunities, and assisting in developing services to add to CommArc’s Cloud and Security portfolio

  • assisting the Cloud and Security Services Manager in mentoring and leadership initiatives to the Cloud and Security services team.

About you 

  • You can demonstrate at least five years’ previous experience in a similar role with specific experience and knowledge of 

    • active directory

    • VMware vSphere

    • networking technologies and storage (SAN) technology.

  • Having experience with VMware, vCloud Director, VMware NSX-V, 3Par storage administration, HPE Blade chassis management and FortiGate firewalls would also be an advantage, but is not a requirement

  • You have: 

    • excellent written and personal communication skills

    • a high standard of personal presentation

    • excellent problem-solving skills

    • the ability to work independently without supervision

  • You are confident and willing and you thrive on working in a dynamic and changing technology environment

  • You provide outstanding customer service

  • You support your manager and have the ability to lead, mentor and engage other members of the team

  • You have integrity, honesty, a strong work ethic, a 'can do' attitude and a sense of humour

  • You are a team player

  • You are legally allowed to work in New Zealand.

Having experience in a managed services role will be an advantage. If you don't have it (yet!), but have at least five years’ experience in any technical IT role, we’d still like to hear from you. If we think you're the right fit and have what it takes, we can teach you.
