We’re introducing a short, sharp and regular update to our favourite people (yes, that’s you) to keep you abreast of all the goings on at CommArc and the tech industry as a whole.
You’ll get an update from us every couple of weeks, with some top line points about what’s on our radar and what’s worth putting on yours.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US
CommArc celebrated its 25th birthday in great style as the very first corporate function at Christchurch’s brand new Tūranga, central city library. The mix of information and technology in the gorgeous new library was the perfect match for CommArc’s philosophy of respect for the past with a firm eye on the future. More than 100 guests enjoyed great company, amazing food from The Catering Belle, and the sweet jazz sounds of the Snap! Quartet.
You can check out Phil’s thank you speech and summary of the last 25 years here.
We’re moving our Auckland cloud platform from the Vodafone Datacentre to the Datacom Orbit Datacentre in Albany. Datacom’s Orbit data centre takes us from tier 2 to tier 3 plus, increasing the protection of our data and providing a similar or better level of reliability of service. If you have any questions, give us a call or contact your Account Manager.
Microsoft 365 has hit the shelves and is rapidly setting itself up as the goto for business software and backup solutions. But does it do what it says on the box for the price you pay? We’ll be taking a closer look at this in a Quickbyte very soon. If you don’t already get our thought-filled newsletters and want to sign up, register below.
Speaking of Microsoft, to ensure transparency and allow Microsoft to better assist customers who need to verify compliance, Microsoft has mandated that all Office 365 subscription customers accept the Microsoft Cloud Agreement (MCA) terms and conditions.
If this applies to you (Office 365 Subscription customers) we will be in touch to confirm your acceptance of the terms and conditions. We may also need to re-confirm acceptance with you if Microsoft releases an updated version of the MCA.

DISRUPTING THE DISRUPTERS
We’re delighted to be taking our Obiter events to Auckland and Dunedin next month. CommArc founder and CEO Phil Johnson will be sharing his thoughts on disruption - what it is, what it means, and how to deal with it in your business.
If you’re keen to attend and haven’t yet received an invitation, let me know and I’ll pop you on the guest list.
SHARING THE LOVE
Our esteemed security analyst, Steve Brorens, took centre stage at last week’s Hacker conference held in Christchurch, sharing his knowledge of ‘white hat phishing’. As part of our BlockPlan, we provide you with an annual phishing test - but you can access this even if you’re not on BlockPlan. Give us a call to find out if a phishing test is right for you.
