It’s Valentine’s Day.
(Don’t panic if you forgot; you’ve still got time to nip out to the shop.)
While that’s typically a day for showing some love for fellow humans, why not take the opportunity to show some love for your IT as well?
Maybe things between you are going great. You can probably just sit back, relax and enjoy each other’s company. Enjoy a nice glass of wine as your device enjoys a nice Tuesday afternoon power charge.
But maybe the spice has gone out of the relationship a bit. Maybe they’ve gotten a bit slow, tired, or boring? Or maybe you just haven’t been working together as well as you once were.
In that case, today’s the day to turn that around! Here are a few ways you can care for your IT – so it can care for you.
Treat yourself to some new hardware
New year, new you, new stuff. Maybe it’s time for an upgrade. Could be a new laptop. Could be a new phone. Maybe just a nice new wireless keyboard or mouse. Even small changes can make a big difference when it’s something we use so often.
Our in-house purchasing and licensing service CommArc Software Services can give you great options and great prices. If you’d like our guidance or some quotes, chat with your account manager.
Give your devices a little TLC
Don’t want to replace something? Then you can make what you already have feel almost brand new. Here are a few ideas for improving the time you spend with your device:
- Get your files in order. Organise them into folders. Delete the ones you no longer need. Rename them so they’re easier to find. It can be a bit of a chore, but it’ll really make life a lot easier. (If you want a good way to access and share your files, our CloudDrive service is worth looking into.)
- Remove apps you no longer use. Extra software on your computer can slow its performance. Extra apps on your phone clutter and conceal what you really need to use and take up space. Time to take stock and think about what you really need in your working life.
- Remove apps from startup. Oftentimes your computer will have a few extra apps starting up when you log in. Some of them are vital, but others just slow things down needlessly. Disable the ones you don’t need (instructions for Windows, instructions for Mac). Just be careful not to disable anything vital! If you’re unsure, check with us.
Spice up your business’ system performance
This is a bigger change, sure, but it can bring a bigger benefit. Onsite servers getting a bit slow? Might be time for an upgrade Haven’t moved to cloud? Maybe this is the year. There’s no time like the present. If you want to try something, or just have us assess where your system is at, chat with your account manager.
Put in a new wallpaper
And at the other end of the complexity spectrum, freshen up your desktop or phone with a nice new wallpaper. A picture of a holiday. An inspirational quote. A big photo of your face so it kind of looks like you’re looking at a mirror. The possibilities – and excitement – are endless.
